Leaders are doers, they do what others don’t. They lead not by the magnitude of their voice, but rather, the virtues they exhibit. Good leaders can inspire others to step up and fulfill their potential, while a poor leader can only shout and demand for others to meet expectations. There are so many qualities that describe how a leader should act, but the truth is, we all have it in us to become one.

On October 11, a few of the DVBS high school students set out on a leadership retreat, led by the alumni: Daron (CO2012), Hubert (CO2015), Ryan (CO2017), Riley (CO2015), Michael (CO2015), Wesley (CO2009), Hansa (CO2009), Rex (CO2014), Jennifer (CO2000), and Emory (CO2013). It was a chilly evening, as we drove through the bumpy, twisted mountain roads. We arrived at the peak, then we unloaded our personal baggage into the house and settled down.

Over the course of next two days, we had meaningful interactions and dialogues, went to the park to play games, and hiked on a mountain trail with a scenic view of Clear Lake.

Special thanks to Mr. JH for the wonderful living space. Thank you to Daron, Hubert, and Jennifer for organizing this event, as well as all the alumni for coming. Finally, thank you to Mr. Nakula Hertz for driving us!
